Our Ongoing Activities

For the fiscal year 2026-27, VOSD is actively implementing the following 29 integrated development programs across 35 districts and 137 upazilas of Bangladesh. These activities represent our continued commitment to empowering the poor, marginalized, and vulnerable communities we serve.

We mobilize poor and marginalized households through community meetings, Uthan Boithak, and awareness sessions, organizing them into savings groups to build collective strength.

Our non-formal education centers provide basic literacy, numeracy, and life skills to out-of-school children, adolescents, and illiterate adults across our working areas.

We run specialized education and rehabilitation programs for street children, working children, and those in hazardous labor, helping them return to school and rebuild their lives.

Our vocational training programs equip youth and women with market-driven skills in trades like sewing, handicrafts, poultry rearing, and technical work for sustainable employment.

We provide micro-credit, savings support, and IGA guidance so poor households can start and grow small businesses, creating steady income and breaking the cycle of poverty.

Primary Health Care, MCH, Family Planning & Nutrition

Health, MCH & Nutrition

We deliver primary healthcare, maternal and child health services, family planning, and nutrition support through our community nutrition centers and satellite clinics.

Promotion of Human Rights, Good Governance & Accountability

We work with local leaders and communities to promote human rights, transparency, and accountability within local governance structures and public institutions.

Legal Education & Legal Aid Program

Legal Education & Legal Aid

We provide legal awareness sessions, develop legal cadres, and offer legal aid support so vulnerable people can understand and claim their rightful entitlements.

Social Afforestation & Nursery Development

Social Afforestation

We promote large-scale tree plantation, nursery development, and community forestry to protect the environment and create green livelihood opportunities for rural families.

We work on reducing chemical use, promoting compost, regenerative agriculture, and reducing plastic use to build a healthier, more sustainable environment for future generations.

We support rural artisans, especially women, in producing and marketing traditional handicrafts as a source of income and a way to preserve cultural heritage.

We support poor families, particularly women, with training and resources to rear cattle, goats, ducks, and poultry for income generation and improved household nutrition.

We re-excavate derelict ponds, promote HYV fish cultivation, and support fishermen groups to create employment and improve protein intake in rural communities.

We install deep and shallow tube wells, rain water harvesting systems, pond sand filters, and water-sealed latrines to ensure safe water and improved sanitation.

Arsenic Mitigation

We test tube wells for arsenic contamination, raise mass awareness about its health risks, and install safe water sources in arsenic-affected areas.

We install energy-efficient ICS that reduce carbon emissions, save fuel, and create a healthier, smoke-free cooking environment for rural families.

We train and rehabilitate VGD women through skills development, credit support, and IGA engagement so they can become self-reliant contributors to their families and communities.

Readymade Garments (RMG) Workers Development

RMG Workers Development

We work with RMG factories on health, hygiene, WASH, and nutrition, reaching over 200,000 workers with practical knowledge and life-improving support.

We construct low-cost houses for poor and disaster-affected families, giving them a safe, dignified place to call home and a foundation to rebuild their lives.

We provide shelter, healthcare, education, and skills training to displaced and migrant families so they can rebuild their lives with dignity and self-reliance.

Disaster Preparedness

We build community resilience through disaster preparedness training, early warning systems, and risk reduction initiatives in cyclone and flood-prone areas.

During and after disasters, we provide emergency relief including food, shelter, and essential supplies, followed by long-term rehabilitation support for affected families.

We extend education, health, and livelihood support to gypsy and urban slum communities, who are among the most excluded and underserved groups in society.

We conduct baseline surveys, impact studies, and action research to understand community needs, measure program effectiveness, and inform evidence-based decision-making.

We promote financial literacy and inclusion so poor households can manage money wisely, save for the future, and access formal financial services with confidence.

We engage with professionals, networks, and forums to share knowledge, strengthen sector collaboration, and advocate for pro-poor policies at national and international levels.
